Cancer Patient Dies by Suicide at Lucknow Hospital Amid Financial Stress

A patient undergoing treatment at the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences in Lucknow reportedly died by suicide after slitting his throat with a blade on hospital grounds. Authorities stated that the individual was battling liver cancer and had been receiving treatment at the facility for nearly one month.

According to police officials, the patient was under considerable mental strain due to his prolonged illness and the escalating financial demands of his treatment. The alarming incident unfolded inside the hospital, resulting in a critical injury to the patient.

The deceased has been identified as Mushtaq Ali, a 61-year-old resident of Basti district. His ongoing struggle with liver cancer and the associated treatment costs created a distressing situation for him, reportedly contributing to his mental anguish prior to the tragic event.
