BPSC Announces 70th Examination Results, Shraddha Pandey Achieves Top Rank

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has officially announced the results of its 70th Combined Competitive Examination, concluding a lengthy period marked by protests and legal issues. This announcement brings closure to a process that has faced multiple challenges since the preliminary test held on 4 January 2025. Shraddha Pandey from Uttar Pradesh has emerged as the top scorer with 593 marks, securing first place in the competitive examination.

Shashank Gaurav and Ayush Bijoy have closely followed this achievement, both achieving 592 marks and effectively sharing the second and third ranks. The results were revealed by BPSC Chairman Ravi Manubhai Parmar during a press conference in Patna. The Commission confirmed that a total of 2,027 candidates have been appointed against the 2,035 posts that were initially advertised.

The recruitment process, however, was not without its complications. Initially disrupted by protests at the Bapu Examination Complex, the preliminary test faced cancellations, resulting in a re-examination that further prolonged the overall timeline. Despite these disruptions, the BPSC maintained that transparency was upheld throughout the entire recruitment phase.

Large-Scale Recruitment Reflects Historical Significance

This year’s recruitment drive has been noted as the largest in the BPSC’s history, with a total of 2,035 vacancies announced and 5,450 candidates reaching the interview stage. According to officials, the high volume of candidates contributed significantly to the delays, as the interview process required more extensive time investment compared to previous examinations.

For context, during the 68th examination, the BPSC offered only 324 vacancies with 817 candidates interviewed, while the 69th examination featured 475 vacancies and 1,252 interviewees. The Commission has stressed that extensive recruitment necessitates thorough verification and administrative measures, which naturally take time to implement effectively.

The decision to proceed with the recruitment process amidst earlier disruptions has drawn attention, as officials highlighted that fairness and merit-based criteria were maintained throughout the selection process. The large number of candidates and vacancies served as a significant factor leading to the extended duration before results could be finalised.
