The CSR Journal Magazine

Sharjah is poised to unveil the Al Nasr Mosque, a remarkable addition to its skyline, in time for Ramadan 2026. This newly constructed mosque is located in the Jabal Omar area of Al Dhaid and is designed to accommodate more than 1,300 worshippers. The mosque showcases a striking glass dome, differentiating it from traditional stone domes often seen in the region, adding a modern touch to the city’s historical landscape.

Official Inauguration

On the evening announcing the sighting of the moon, marking the start of Ramadan, Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, the Deputy Ruler of Sharjah,Officially opened Al Nasr Mosque. This event aims to create a spiritual haven in the community, blending architectural beauty with a space for reflection and prayer.

Unique Glass Dome Design

The architectural highlight of Al Nasr Mosque is its expansive glass dome, which spans 20 meters in diameter and rises 16 meters high, covering about 80% of the roof. Made from hexagonal glass panels designed in a honeycomb pattern, the dome reflects light throughout the day, casting a serene glow within the prayer hall, particularly at sunset when golden hues permeate the space, creating an uplifting environment for worshippers.

Welcoming Facilities for Worshippers

The mosque’s design emphasizes comfort and community engagement. The main prayer hall is tailored to accommodate 470 worshippers in an intimate setting, while an additional 1,180 male worshippers can use the spacious outdoor courtyard and external prayer zones. A specialized prayer area for women provides a serene space for 145 worshippers, ensuring overall capacity exceeds 1,300.

Comprehensive Community Hub

Beyond its role as a place of worship, Al Nasr Mosque has been developed as a community center. It includes modern hygiene facilities, a water station, and serves as a residence for the imam, ensuring ongoing spiritual guidance. The facility also plans to feature a public reading library, a mortuary, and ample parking, reinforcing its commitment to serving the community’s needs.

Modern Aesthetics and Spiritual Atmosphere

The mosque’s interior has been designed to cultivate openness and tranquility. Generous natural light graces the hall, while a modern mimbar, or pulpit, offers soft lighting that enhances the spiritual ambiance without being overbearing for worshippers.

A Nationwide Initiative

The opening of Al Nasr Mosque is part of a broader initiative across the UAE aimed at enhancing mosque facilities and addressing the needs of expanding congregations. In Sharjah, numerous mosques have been constructed or renovated to ensure local communities have access to up-to-date amenities. Additionally, various engaging programs have been developed during Ramadan, specifically designed to foster family and community participation, reflecting the UAE’s dedication to making spiritual practices during this holy month more accessible to everyone.
