A local youth leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Gurbinder Singh, was critically injured after being shot by unidentified assailants riding a motorcycle in Gurdaspur district, Punjab, on the evening of June 9, 2026. Police confirmed that the victim is the sarpanch of Kadian Rajputa village and holds the position of AAP’s youth president for the Fatehgarh Churian Assembly segment.

The incident reportedly transpired when Singh was leaving his uncle’s residence and preparing to enter his vehicle. At that moment, two youths on a motorbike allegedly opened fire without any prior warning. Eyewitnesses claim that the attackers discharged three shots, resulting in two bullets striking Singh in the legs.

Following the shooting, Singh’s family members and local villagers quickly transported him to the Civil Hospital in Batala. Due to the severe nature of his injuries, medical staff provided initial treatment before referring him to a more advanced facility in Amritsar for further care.

DSP Fatehgarh Churian, Lalit Kumar, stated that police were actively assisting in the transfer of the critically injured man to the hospital and had officially registered a case regarding the attack.
