Dr Meenakshi was discovered dead at her residence in Jalandhar on the morning of June 11, 2026. Her family has accused her husband of secretly acquiring loans exceeding several crores in her name without her consent. According to her father, Pramod Kumar, the couple wed in October 2018, and concerns escalated when Dr Meenakshi learned about a loan amounting to nearly Rs 2.5 crore that had been taken without her knowledge.

The family asserts that Dr Piyush had previously taken loans totaling approximately Rs 45 lakh for both a personal vehicle and hospital-related expenses, which Dr Meenakshi had been paying from her salary. These alarming revelations reportedly caused her great mental distress, leading to a separation from her husband that began in July 2025.

Claims of Abuse and Extramarital Relationship

In addition to financial allegations, Dr Meenakshi’s family has accused Dr Piyush of physical abuse throughout their marriage. Her mother stated that Dr Piyush would often admit to physically assaulting her daughter during arguments.
