In a head-on collision between a SUV and a dumper truck in Churu district, Rajasthan, on late Thursday evening, three people died on spot and five critical injured and being treated. The tragic accident happened around 10 pm near Pilani–Sadulpur road. As per police, the accident was so intense that both the vehicle engulfed in fire in no time. There were total eight occupants inside the SUV, out of which three were trapped inside and died on the spot as the vehicle caught fire and five others sustained severe burn and were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Those severely injured were taken to the nearby Birla Public Hospital in Pilani, but because their condition was critical, they immediately shifted to BDK Hospital in Jhunjhunu, and eventually taken to SMS Hospital in Jaipur. Many of them are still in critical state.

Blaze after crash claims lives

On receiving information about the accident, police from Hamirwas station reached the accident site, fire brigade teams doused the flames. Due to the accident, traffic jam happened, authorities engaged in diverting vehicles to ease traffic congestion.

The initial report suggests that the SUV in which eight people were onboard was heading towards a wedding procession from the Sidhmukh area to Pilani. While the groom and many other guests had reached and wedding ceremonies was underway, the news of the crash reached, casting a shadow over the celebrations. Wedding rituals proceeded in a subdued atmosphere. The actual reason behind the accident is yet not known, however police suspect that the accident could have happened due to speeding and negligence. Currently, the forensic examination is underway, and the deceased are being identified.

This accident has once again raised concerns over road safety, officials have shared that a detailed investigation is being done and those accountable be we held.
