The CSR Journal Magazine

Vice President of India, C P Radhakrishnan, arrived at Tiruchirappalli International Airport on August 17 following his departure from Chennai. His visit is focused on the 11th Convocation Ceremony of the Central University of Tamil Nadu (CUTN), taking place at Neelakudi, located near Tiruvarur. Upon reaching the airport, the Vice President promptly left for Tiruvarur via helicopter.

He was joined on this flight by Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Arlekar and state Higher Education Minister Govi Chezhiaan, both of whom are also set to attend the convocation ceremony. The logistics for this visit have been carefully arranged to ensure smooth transportation and attendance at the event.

Convocation Ceremony Activities

The Convocation Ceremony is scheduled to commence at approximately 11:00 AM in the multipurpose auditorium of the Central University of Tamil Nadu. C P Radhakrishnan will serve as the chief guest for the occasion, where he is expected to present gold medals and degrees to students who have excelled academically. Furthermore, he will deliver an address to the gathered assembly.

The ceremony is presided over by Chancellor Padmanabhan, highlighting the importance of the event for the institution. The Central University of Tamil Nadu, operating under the Union Ministry of Education, supports the educational journeys of around 4,000 students from not only Tamil Nadu but also various other states, including Kerala, Odisha, Gujarat, and West Bengal.

Preparation for the event has included setting up a temporary helipad on the university campus to facilitate the Vice President’s arrival. After landing, he will proceed by road to the convocation venue to further streamline the events of the day.

Previous Engagements in Tamil Nadu

This visit is part of a two-day itinerary for C P Radhakrishnan in Tamil Nadu. On August 16, he participated in the 22nd Convocation of the SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), located in Kattankulathur, Chengalpattu. During that event, he presented an Honorary Degree Certificate to Shri R. Velusamy Avl, who holds the position of President of the Automotive Business at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.

While addressing the students at SRMIST, the Vice President underscored the significance of education and self-preparation, advising the graduates not only to prepare for their futures but also to take an active role in shaping them. His message to the youth emphasized the potential and strength of India’s younger generations.

C P Radhakrishnan’s remarks have resonated within the context of higher education, promoting not just passive acceptance of opportunities but encouraging proactive involvement in future developments. His engagement in these ceremonies reflects the government’s commitment to advancing higher education and recognising student achievements throughout the country.
