In a groundbreaking achievement, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, the 15-year-old talent from Rajasthan Royals, has become the fastest and youngest player in men’s T20 cricket to score 100 sixes, accomplishing this remarkable feat in just 29 innings. Additionally, he secured the record for the fewest balls faced to reach 100 sixes, needing only 514 deliveries. Sooryavanshi reached this milestone during the Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Gujarat Titans on May 9 at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.

Sooryavanshi’s innings unfolded with explosive energy when he faced bowler Mohammed Siraj. He struck the very first ball he faced for a towering six over long-on, setting the tone for his aggressive batting display. During the powerplay, he scored 36 runs off just 16 balls, including three boundary hits and three sixes. The spectacle of his innings, however, concluded when Siraj managed to claim his wicket after an engaging contest.

Currently, Sooryavanshi stands as the top run-scorer for the Rajasthan Royals in the ongoing IPL season, compiling a remarkable 440 runs in 11 matches, averaging 40.00 with an extraordinary strike rate of 236.55. His achievements this season also include one century and two half-centuries, showcasing his exceptional talent and potential as a young cricketer.

Match Overview: Gujarat Titans vs Rajasthan Royals

The IPL match between Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans saw a strong performance from the Titans, who posted a formidable score of 229 runs for the loss of 4 wickets. GT’s innings was underpinned by significant contributions from captain Shubman Gill, who scored 84 runs off 44 deliveries, and Sai Sudharsan, who added 55 runs from 36 balls. A late flourish from Washington Sundar, who scored an unbeaten 37 off 20 balls, further bolstered GT’s total.

The captains of the two teams had an altered leadership dynamic, with Yashasvi Jaiswal stepping in for Rajasthan Royals as the stand-in captain due to Riyan Parag’s injury. Under Jaiswal’s leadership, the Royals were set to chase a daunting target after Gujarat Titans opted to bat first. The aggressive batting from the Titans effectively capitalized on the pitch conditions, allowing them to cross the 200-run mark comfortably.
