A father and his three children tragically lost their lives in a road accident that occurred in Hapur district, Uttar Pradesh. The incident happened on July 13 when a truck allegedly collided with the family’s motorcycle on the Delhi-Lucknow National Highway (NH-9). Authorities confirmed that the truck driver fled the scene immediately after the collision.

The family was travelling from Hasanpur village in Shahjahanpur district to Noida when the accident took place at approximately 3.30 pm near the Bachhlauta flyover. The impact was severe, throwing all five occupants from the motorcycle onto the road.

Details of the Accident Released

According to police reports, after the truck struck the motorcycle, the driver allegedly ran over two of the fallen children while attempting to escape the scene. Eyewitness accounts and CCTV footage have played a crucial role in the investigation, assisting authorities in identifying and locating the suspect.

Hapur City Circle Officer Anita Chauhan confirmed the identities of the victims, stating that Ashok, the father, was travelling with his wife Rinky and their three children, Anuj, Meenakshi, and Radhika. While Ashok and the children died instantly, Rinky suffered serious injuries and has been admitted to a medical college hospital in Meerut for treatment.

The police preliminary investigation indicates that two of the children might have survived if the truck driver had stopped following the collision, rather than fleeing the scene. Investigators believe the quick response to the incident could have positively impacted the children’s chances of survival.

Driver Located and Arrested

A team of police officials conducted extensive searches across multiple districts to locate the driver. They utilised the CCTV footage and the truck’s route to establish a lead, ultimately tracing and arresting the accused. The truck involved in the accident has also been seized as part of the ongoing investigation.

Legal proceedings against the driver are now underway, following his apprehension. Investigators are continuing their work to gather all necessary evidence related to the incident. The community has been left in shock following this tragic event, which has drawn attention to road safety issues in the region.

As of the latest reports, Rinky remains under close medical care while the family mourns their tragic loss. The police investigation seeks to hold the responsible party accountable and prevent similar incidents in the future.
