In a bizarre turn of events, a man in Uttar Pradesh’s Bahraich district found himself trapped in a large metal cage meant for a leopard. The incident, which occurred on Thursday night, has gone viral after a video of the man, struggling inside the cage, surfaced on social media. The cage had been set up near the Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary to catch a leopard that had killed a woman just a day earlier.

The Trap and the Bait

The trap was set on the outskirts of a village after a leopard attack on a 55-year-old woman, Shanti Devi, on Wednesday evening. Forest officials placed a goat inside the cage as bait, hoping to lure the leopard.

However, the unexpected “catch” was Pradeep, a local man who had reportedly been drunk when he entered the cage. He may have been attempting to steal the goat when the automatic door mechanism triggered, locking him inside.

How the Incident Unfolded

According to forest officials, there were conflicting reports about why Pradeep entered the trap. While some speculated he was trying to steal the goat, Pradeep claimed he was simply “checking on the situation” when he became dizzy and inadvertently triggered the trap.

Once trapped, Pradeep called for help using his mobile phone. The village head was alerted, and a joint team of forest officials and police rushed to the site.

The Rescue Operation

It took nearly two hours for the team to safely extract Pradeep from the metal cage. Thankfully, he was not harmed during the ordeal. The video showing Pradeep inside the trap went viral, with many social media users finding the incident both funny and shocking.

While the trap failed to catch the leopard, it certainly captured the attention of the internet.
