Uttar Pradesh Approves Rapid Rail Plan to Reduce Travel Time to Noida Airport

The CSR Journal Magazine

The proposed high-speed rail connectivity plan aims to significantly shorten the travel duration between Delhi and the upcoming Noida International Airport to just 21 minutes. Uttar Pradesh’s Industrial Development Minister, Nand Gopal Gupta, made this announcement on Thursday during a review of projects conducted by the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) at PICUP Bhawan.

According to the minister, the detailed project report (DPR) for the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) linking Delhi with Jewar airport has received approval from the state government. This report has now been forwarded to the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs for further consideration.

Officials attending the meeting highlighted the integration of the proposed Delhi-Varanasi high-speed rail corridor with the airport terminal. This integration will feature a dedicated railway station that allows seamless connectivity to Delhi, enhancing travel options for future passengers.

Economic Development of Yamuna Expressway Region

The minister noted that the entire Yamuna Expressway region is poised to develop into a significant cargo hub following the inauguration of the Jewar airport. This development is expected to boost both economic activity and employment opportunities in the region.

Gupta emphasised the need for enhanced work culture among officials, urging them to adopt a corporate-style approach in management practices. Additionally, he stressed the importance of ensuring the prompt maintenance and repair of damaged roads along the expressway to facilitate better transportation.

As part of improving regional connectivity, the Yamuna Expressway is being connected to several key expressways, including the Agra-Lucknow, Bundelkhand, Purvanchal, Delhi-Mumbai, and Ganga expressways. This strategy is set to enhance the strategic importance of the area and improve overall infrastructure.

Enhancements in Administrative Processes

During the meeting, Gupta directed officials to expedite online payments for land acquisition compensation owed to farmers, thereby reducing bureaucratic delays. He called for the establishment of a streamlined system to enable smoother access to no-objection certificates related to maps and land plots.

Furthermore, he urged authorities to make information regarding plots available in real-time online. Keeping future requirements in mind, Gupta also suggested that personnel receive artificial intelligence training to better prepare them for evolving administrative tasks.

Officials informed Gupta about the preparations for a master plan aimed at developing the urban city of Hathras. Plans are underway to extend the Yamuna Expressway up to Agra after Hathras, with intentions to develop a significant urban area over 4,700 acres in the Tappal-Bajna region.

Lastly, the YEIDA region is currently experiencing rapid industrial growth, with multiple projects in various sectors, including a semiconductor chip manufacturing unit by HCL-Foxconn, electronic manufacturing clusters, an apparel park, medical device production facilities, a toy park, an MSME park, a handicraft park, and a data park. This industrialisation aligns with current development initiatives aiming to bolster both local and state economies.
