The CSR Journal Magazine

A 38-year-old woman was reportedly killed by her lover during the night, following a dispute over mobile phone conversations. The accused, identified as Hemal Khakharia alias Dilip, allegedly attacked the victim while she was asleep, subsequently dismembering her body into three parts. This tragic event unfolded in the Jaunpur district of Uttar Pradesh, where he disposed of the remains in various locations before being apprehended by police during an attempted escape.

Arrest Details

Khakharia, a 42-year-old resident of Gujarat living in Jaunpur’s Teachers’ Colony, was intercepted by law enforcement authorities late on Sunday night. The police tracked him down near the Ramnagar Block Gate. Reports suggest that he opened fire as he tried to flee, resulting in police returning fire, which led to him being injured in his right leg. Following his arrest, he was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The investigation began when local residents discovered a dismembered torso wrapped in a black plastic bag in bushes near the Ranipur Bypass. This shocking find prompted immediate police action, initiating an inquiry using both electronic data and forensic evidence to identify the victim and ascertain the perpetrator’s whereabouts.

Authorities reported that the victim was initially identified as Reshma Khan, also known as Sana. Before her death, she had spent time with Khakharia, who had brought her from Babatpur in Varanasi to his rented place in Jaunpur on July 4. The police revealed that a quarrel ignited over mobile phone messages, leading to the tragic outcome.

Sequence of Events

According to police accounts, the altercation escalated after Khakharia went through Reshma’s mobile chats. While the argument seemed to have calmed down, he allegedly remained furious. It is reported that once Reshma fell asleep, Khakharia used a knife to slit her throat, resulting in her death. Following the act, he left his accommodation to purchase plastic bags before returning to dismember her body with a cleaver.

Subsequently, he disposed of the torso near the Ranipur Bypass, while the remaining limbs were discarded in a culvert close to the Ramnagar Block crossing. The police initiated a detailed investigation when they received reports about the recovered body parts and began to assess the crime scene.

As the investigation unfolded, officers were informed that Khakharia had attempted to eliminate any evidence of his crime. Alarmed by the recovery of some of the victim’s remains and the police’s active role in identifying her, he allegedly set out late on Sunday evening to conceal the remaining body parts.

Evidence and Ongoing Investigation

Following his capture, Khakharia reportedly confessed to the murder during police interrogation. Authorities recovered a .32-bore country-made pistol, along with two live cartridges and two spent cartridge cases, in addition to the murder weapon and the remaining body parts. A mobile phone and a motorcycle were also seized from him.

The case has raised serious concerns among the local community, prompting increased police vigilance in the area. Investigators continue to delve deeper into the circumstances surrounding the crime, aiming to piece together a complete narrative following this grisly murder.

As the investigation proceeds, law enforcement remains committed to uncovering the full story and ensuring that justice is served in this distressing case.
