Two Elderly Women Found Dead in Delhi Residence

The CSR Journal Magazine

Two elderly women were found deceased in their home in the New Rajendra Nagar area of Delhi on Thursday, triggering an investigation by local authorities. The bodies were located in an R Block residence after a domestic worker, arriving for her shift, detected an unpleasant odour emanating from the property.

The domestic help had not visited the house for two days prior to the discovery, leading to concerns. After multiple attempts to reach the occupants via phone proved unsuccessful, the worker took the initiative to break open the gate, whereupon the bodies were found in different areas within the house.

Identification and Living Situation

The deceased women have been identified as Saroj, aged 78, and Chandrakanta, who is approximately 80 years old. Both individuals were related, described as sister-in-law and the elder relative of the sister-in-law. They resided together, alone, in the affluent locality of Rajendra Nagar.

Reports indicate that Chandrakanta was bedridden and required assistance for mobility, while Saroj, who also needed support to walk, provided care for her. Their living conditions are part of the ongoing investigation, as family dynamics and health circumstances may offer insights into the situation.

Authorities have clarified that neither of the bodies exhibited any visible injuries during an initial examination, raising questions about the circumstances leading to their deaths. Furthermore, there were no signs of forced entry into the residence, suggesting that the deaths may not be the result of foul play.

Forensic Investigation Underway

A forensic team has been deployed to the scene to conduct a thorough examination, gathering evidence that may aid in clarifying the events surrounding the deaths. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem analysis to establish the exact cause of death.

The Delhi Police have stated that they are exploring all possible angles in this case, emphasising the importance of determining whether any underlying medical conditions contributed to the fatalities. Investigators are liaising with any remaining relatives and neighbours to gather additional context.

This incident has created a sense of concern in the local community, highlighting the vulnerability of elderly individuals living alone, especially in relation to health emergencies. The ongoing investigation aims to uncover any relevant factors that led to this tragic turn of events.
