A pre-wedding photo shoot turned tragic when a man drowned in a lake at a well-known tourist destination in Rajasthan. This unfortunate event took place on June 11, 2026, at Gori Dham, situated in the Aravali hills of Rajsamand district. Arjun Damami, the 27-year-old victim from Chittorgarh, was visiting the location with his fiancée and her uncle when the incident occurred.

Details of the Incident

According to police reports, the uncle remained near the temple area while Damami accompanied his fiancée to the lower section of Gori Dham for their photo shoot. During this time, Damami allegedly approached the lake to take a bath. Unfortunately, he slipped and fell into the deep water, prompting immediate concern from his fiancée, who raised an alarm.

Nearby visitors responded quickly to the woman’s cries for help and rushed to the scene. Authorities were alerted, leading to the initiation of a search operation shortly after the incident was reported. However, efforts were obstructed by the darkness and the considerable depth of the lake, making recovery efforts particularly difficult.

The situation called for additional resources, leading to the involvement of a specialised team from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), which was summoned from Udaipur to assist in the search and recovery efforts.

Search and Recovery Operations

The SDRF resumed search operations early on the morning of June 12, collaborating with the Rajsamand Civil Defence team. After several hours of arduous efforts, they successfully located Damami’s body. The recovery operation was complicated due to the challenging topography surrounding the lake, which is located in an area that is difficult to access.

In addition to SDRF personnel, local villagers and police worked in tandem to transport the body from the ravine-like area to the top of a steep hill. The challenging conditions made the work physically demanding and time-consuming.

After the completion of a post-mortem examination, the authorities released the body to the victim’s family. The emotional toll on the family and nearby visitors was significant, as they grappled with the unexpected loss.

Investigation and Aftermath

The police have opened a case regarding the incident and are conducting further investigations to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the drowning. Officials are aiming to ensure that similar tragedies can be prevented in the future, as pre-wedding shoots and other recreational activities continue to draw visitors to scenic locations like Gori Dham.
