In response to the escalating tensions in West Asia, Indian airlines have stepped up their support for travelers affected by recent events. IndiGo has announced a month-long period during which passengers can cancel or reschedule their flights free of charge until March 31, 2026.

The airline shared this information through a statement on social media, highlighting the availability of complete waivers for travel to and from the Middle East and Istanbul. SpiceJet Launches Special Flights to Assist Return of Nationals

SpiceJet has responded to the situation by scheduling 14 special flights from the United Arab Emirates on March 6, aimed at facilitating the return of Indian nationals who have become stranded. According to the airline, 13 of these flights will depart from Fujairah, while one will take off from Dubai. This initiative includes nine flights from Fujairah to Mumbai, four from Fujairah to Delhi, and one from Dubai to Pune, effectively providing increased capacity to help stranded passengers return home promptly. Over the past three days, SpiceJet has managed to operate a total of 25 special flights from the UAE to connect passengers with destinations like Delhi, Mumbai, and Kochi.

Passenger Experiences Reflect Safety in UAE

Indian travelers arriving at Indira Gandhi International Airport from Dubai on Friday reported feeling safe in the UAE, despite the ongoing regional conflicts. Passengers noted the assistance provided by the UAE government amidst flight cancellations. One traveler, Rahul Ghosh, mentioned that although his flight from Kuwait was cancelled due to the war, he did not perceive Dubai as unsafe. His experience reflected the sense of security within the UAE during this uncertain time.

Indian Embassy Updates on Flight Operations

The Embassy of India in Abu Dhabi recently provided clarification regarding current airspace conditions, confirming that regular flight operations have been suspended due to the prevailing situation. However, both Indian and UAE airlines have commenced limited non-scheduled flights to various destinations in India, in cooperation with UAE authorities, contingent on the necessary operational and safety approvals. Stranded Indian nationals are advised to contact their respective airlines to avail themselves of these specially arranged flights.

International Tensions Influence Travel Plans

This increase in flight operations comes in the wake of coordinated airstrikes conducted by the US and Israel on multiple locations in Iran, targeting military installations and other crucial infrastructure. As the situation develops, Indian carriers continue to adapt their services to assist nationals caught in challenging circumstances abroad.
