Police investigating the murder of Kanpur-based pharmaceutical businessman Vineet Minocha have found WhatsApp chats and call records allegedly linking his daughter-in-law, Shalu, to Vishal, a former employee who is accused of carrying out the killing.

Shalu and Vishal have been arrested and remanded in judicial custody. Investigators allege that the two conspired to murder Minocha, with police tracing more than 300 calls and messages exchanged between them from May 1 until the day of the murder.

Deleted Chats But Call Records Remained

According to police, Vishal had deleted his WhatsApp chat history but had not erased his call records, which helped investigators trace the alleged communication between him and Shalu.

A police official told The Times of India that Vishal had earlier sent Shalu “good morning” and “good night” messages without receiving any response.

Investigators said Shalu allegedly began engaging with Vishal in conversations around three months ago. She reportedly complimented his appearance, described him as smart and asked whether he was in a relationship and why he had not married.

Police are examining the exchanges as part of their investigation into the alleged conspiracy to kill Minocha.

Police Allege Restrictions Led To Conspiracy

Investigators have alleged that Shalu conspired to murder her father-in-law after becoming unhappy with restrictions he had allegedly imposed on her lifestyle.

Vishal is accused of stabbing Minocha 26 times on Saturday, resulting in his death.

Police later arrested Vishal along with his alleged accomplice, Raj Kishore, 30.

Accused Allegedly Hid Inside Apartment

According to investigators, Vishal and Raj Kishore entered the residential complex and allegedly hid inside a bedroom before the killing.

A security guard told police that Shalu had allowed the two men to enter the complex.

After returning to the apartment, Shalu allegedly acted as though she was unaware of what had happened.

Police said she cried and fainted after seeing Minocha’s body, though investigators later arrested her in connection with the alleged murder conspiracy.

Separate Kanpur Murder Case Under Investigation

In another case earlier this month, a 58-year-old woman was found murdered during an alleged robbery at her home in Kanpur’s Keshavpuram area.

The victim, identified as Uma, was found seated on a chair inside the residence, with a bruise visible on her neck. Her belongings were scattered around the house, suggesting that the premises may have been searched for valuables.

However, police and forensic teams did not find any apparent signs of forced entry.

Investigators suspect that those involved in the crime may have been familiar with the house or had prior knowledge of the location of valuables and details about the family and its residence.
