College Students Participate in Suicide Prevention Awareness Rally in Tiruchirappalli

More than 100 college students took part in a suicide prevention awareness rally organised by Bishop Heber College in Tiruchirappalli on Wednesday to mark World Suicide Prevention Day.

Carrying placards with messages on mental health and emotional well-being, the students sought to highlight the importance of seeking timely professional and social support during periods of emotional distress.

Rally Held Through Puthur Area

The awareness rally began at the Bishop Heber College campus and proceeded through Puthur Four Road before returning to the college.

Students used the event to spread messages focused on suicide prevention, mental well-being and the need to seek support when experiencing emotional distress.

The initiative also aimed to encourage greater awareness and open conversations around mental health.

College Holds Awareness Pledge

Earlier, students and professors of Bishop Heber College participated in a pledge-taking ceremony as part of the World Suicide Prevention Day observance.

The participants reaffirmed the importance of suicide prevention and promoting greater awareness about mental health.

The college’s initiatives were aimed at reinforcing the message that people experiencing emotional distress should reach out for appropriate support.
