After being put in to bat, Sunrisers Hyderabad capitalised on favourable batting conditions to put up a strong total. The innings was built around an aggressive approach at the top, with Abhishek Sharma providing early momentum through a quickfire knock. His intent in the powerplay ensured SRH got off to a brisk start.

Heinrich Klaasen then took charge in the middle overs, playing a crucial innings that kept the scoring rate high. His ability to find boundaries regularly prevented Chennai from regaining control. Despite losing wickets at intervals, SRH maintained momentum through contributions from the middle and lower order.

In response, Chennai Super Kings began steadily but struggled to keep pace with the required run rate. The top order showed glimpses of intent, but regular wickets prevented the formation of a substantial partnership.

A late surge from the lower order, including cameos from Shivam Dube and others, briefly revived hopes. However, disciplined bowling at the death, particularly from Nitish Kumar Reddy and support from the pace attack, ensured SRH stayed ahead.
