Sharmaji ka beta was not only an ideal son, but a good husband too. He used to make sure to keep his wife happy and spend time with her, taking her out on dates frequently.

One weekend, after a romantic dinner with Susan, the duo was driving back home, when their car had a flat tire. Sharma, not knowing what to do, started calling for a mechanic who could come to escort them. Sharma was always a topper in school and college. He had studied the process of changing a tire in school, but never applied it in practice.

The mechanic didn’t have any means of transportation to reach the place where the Sharma couple was stuck. So he asked them to change the tire and get the punctured one to his garage, which was at some distance.

Seeing her husband in dilemma, Susan offered to change the tire herself. Sharma was surprised because Susan never drove before, and he didn’t expect her to know the workings of a car. Nonetheless to his surprise, the petite Susan opposed to his healthy self, was able to change the tire by herself, applying the right force at the right places using the right tools.

Sharma, feeling proud of his wife, got back to driving thinking how even while having theoretical knowledge, he wasn’t able to do much in the time of need. Thinking of his school and college education, he realised that although the students are taught everything in Indian educaion system, they are generally clueless about practical applications of that knowledge in their daily lives.

Sharma has now taken a personal interest in the education of children in his vicinity. He along with Susan, organizes workshop camps for school children on weekends, where they can fun frolic and learn to apply the lessons they learn in school.

Sharmaji and his wife too attend these camps with pride. So why won’t every parent ask, “Why don’t you be more like Sharmaji ka beta?”
