SOHAR Port and Freezone is enhancing its interaction with Indian businesses to promote opportunities in manufacturing, distribution, and logistics investments via Oman. An investment roadshow, held over two days in New Delhi, brought together Indian companies under the banner “Your Gateway to International Markets.” Attendees included manufacturers, exporters, and business stakeholders who were presented with various avenues for international expansion through Oman.

The event was conducted in partnership with the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) at the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman. It aimed to elucidate how Indian businesses can establish or scale their operations in manufacturing, distribution, and logistics, leveraging the advantages provided by the SOHAR facility.

The engagement featured business-to-business meetings that concentrated on identifying specific investment opportunities and potential partnerships for companies keen on entering or expanding within the Oman market. These interactions are designed to facilitate a clearer pathway for Indian businesses seeking growth in international markets.

Strategic Importance of SOHAR Port and Freezone

Saurabh Sanyal, Secretary General of ASSOCHAM, emphasised that Indian businesses are increasingly pursuing avenues beyond traditional markets. He noted that the drive to broaden their global presence and diversify supply chains aligns well with the offerings at SOHAR Port and Freezone. “This engagement presents a valuable opportunity for our members to investigate tangible investment and organisational prospects that will bolster their long-term international strategies,” he stated.

Key segments highlighted during the roadshow included investment prospects across various industrial sectors, as well as the supportive infrastructure and connectivity essential for conducting business from Oman. SOHAR Port and Freezone reportedly accommodates investments exceeding $30 billion and manages more than 72 million tonnes of cargo each year, showcasing its significant operational capacity.

Dr Raid Al Rubaiey, the Chief Executive Officer of SOHAR Freezone and Deputy CEO of SOHAR Port, mentioned that India is becoming a vital element in SOHAR’s international investment landscape. He expressed optimism about the contributions already made by established Indian businesses to the industrial ecosystem at SOHAR, underlining the potential for deeper engagement through investments that could enhance value chains and generate new growth opportunities.

Pathway for Future Collaborations

The recent roadshow marks a progression from prior webinars held in collaboration with ASSOCHAM, shifting the focus toward actionable investment opportunities and partnerships. Officials pointed out that the aim is to convert these discussions into lasting relationships that foster international growth for Indian enterprises via Oman.

As the sessions concluded, stakeholders reflected on the importance of utilising the communication channels established during the roadshow to ensure ongoing engagement. The collaborative efforts between SOHAR and Indian businesses signal a commitment to creating a conducive environment for international trade and investment.

In conclusion, the roadshow reflects a strategic initiative aimed at aligning Indian business aspirations with the vast economic prospects offered by Oman’s SOHAR Port and Freezone. Through such interactions, the potential exists to not only enhance the industrial landscape of Oman but also serve as a gateway for Indian businesses to make significant strides in global marketplaces.
