Salman Khan, Nayanthara Begin Shooting New Action Film in Mumbai

The CSR Journal Magazine

Salman Khan and Nayanthara have officially initiated the shooting of their forthcoming film, directed by Vamshi Paidipally. The project commenced in Mumbai on April 22, 2026, marking the beginning of a prominent collaboration supported by producer Dil Raju.

The announcement of the filming was confirmed by trade analyst Taran Adarsh, who shared details on social media. He highlighted that the makers have begun shooting this high-octane entertainer in Mumbai, emphasising the involvement of both Salman Khan and Nayanthara in the film.

Produced under Sri Venkateswara Creations, the film is a joint effort by producers Shirish and Kuldeep Rathore, alongside co-producer Rafi Kazi. The production team began their schedule with a traditional pooja ceremony, followed by a month-long shooting plan on a specially designed set in Mumbai, where large-scale action sequences are set to be filmed.

Expectation for Eid 2027 Release

The as-yet-untitled film is anticipated to be a commercial entertainer with a notable emotional dimension. Expectations are high regarding Salman Khan’s portrayal, as he is expected to be depicted in a larger-than-life manner. The production team is reportedly targeting an Eid 2027 release for the film’s theatrical debut.

This development in Salman Khan’s career comes amid ongoing delays related to his earlier project, Maatrubhumi, which was formerly titled Battle of Galwan. The latter project was initially designed as a drama focusing on the 2020 conflict between India and China in the Galwan Valley, but it has since undergone numerous modifications.

Significant changes to Maatrubhumi’s storyline occurred following advice to avoid direct references to the geopolitical issues surrounding the Galwan conflict. Consequently, the narrative was adjusted to encompass a broader human drama, leading to a change in the film’s title. Reports have surfaced indicating that a considerable portion of Maatrubhumi required reshoots.

Status of Maatrubhumi and Regulatory Challenges

As of April 2026, the project Maatrubhumi has not yet been submitted to the Central Board of Film Certification for approval. Additionally, the film awaits a No Objection Certificate from both the Ministry of Defence and the Indian Army, which is crucial for its progression.

Salman Khan’s dedication to the role in Maatrubhumi involved extensive high-altitude training in Ladakh. The rigorous training is reportedly aimed at ensuring authenticity and physical readiness for the demanding scenes planned for the film.

While the filming of Vamshi Paidipally’s untitled project is currently in progress, the future of Maatrubhumi remains uncertain, as the filmmakers navigate regulatory requirements along with the challenges brought about by its conceptual restructuring.
