Rohit Pawar, an MLA from the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) faction, has raised serious allegations regarding the circumstances surrounding the plane crash involving Ajit Pawar. Speaking to the media, he suggested that a significant force is allegedly shielding VSR, the company operating the aircraft in question. “There seems to be a conspiracy concerning Ajit Pawar’s accident, involving a plane from VSR,” he stated.

Pawar further made reference to a previous incident involving the same operator. He noted that VSR had been implicated in a situation in 2023 when a plane carrying then-Chief Minister Eknath Shinde encountered security threats while traversing Iranian and Iraqi airspace. “When his aircraft entered Iranian airspace and subsequently Iraq, the warning issued stated that if it did not vacate their airspace within five minutes, both countries had no choice but to shoot down the aircraft,” he claimed.

The MLA criticized VSR’s handling of safety protocols, stating that if the company is not operating responsibly, it should not be permitted to continue flying. He expressed concern that no decisive actions have been taken against VSR, insisting that this was indicative of protection by “big power.” He further speculated that this shielding might be to prevent the company’s owner from revealing names of certain political figures and businessmen. He expressed his hopes for justice concerning the case involving Ajit Pawar.

While addressing journalists outside the Maharashtra Assembly, Pawar highlighted the visit of VSR’s representative, VK Singh, to the Pune CID office, where Singh allegedly received preferential treatment. He announced his intention to travel to Pune to question CID officials regarding the filing of a First Information Report (FIR) in this matter. “VK Singh from VSR appeared at the CID office in Pune yesterday. The treatment he received was akin to that reserved for VIPs. Today, I plan to visit the Pune CID office to determine if an FIR has been initiated, as the delay in these proceedings can obstruct the uncovering of evidence related to this conspiracy. The people of Maharashtra are also inquiring about the Ajit Pawar plane crash,” he asserted.

Ajit Pawar lost his life on January 28 when the Learjet 45 aircraft (VT-SSK) he was aboard crash-landed while attempting to land at Baramati airport in Pune district. The aircraft succumbed near the threshold of the runway, resulting in the deaths of all five personnel on board, including Pawar, his personal security officer, one flight attendant, and two pilots. During this journey, he was en route from Mumbai to Baramati to participate in the Zilla Panchayat elections.

In response to the crash, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has formed a multi-disciplinary audit team that discovered several violations concerning approved operational procedures focused on airworthiness and safety. They have initiated a special safety audit of VSR Ventures Pvt Ltd to address these issues.
