On February 17, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated a 5-kilometre run in Dehradun, starting from Cantt Road. The event aimed to raise awareness about road safety and environmental protection, attracting a significant number of participants from diverse age groups. The initiative underscores the importance of these issues within the community.
During the event, the chief minister administered an oath to the participants, urging them to adhere to traffic regulations and champion the cause of environmental conservation. CM Dhami highlighted that it is the responsibility of every citizen to follow traffic rules and engage in preserving the environment. He reiterated the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance road safety and promote ecological sustainability in the state.
MLA Savita Kapoor and MLA Khajan Dass were among the dignitaries present at the event, which witnessed enthusiastic participation, reflecting a strong public commitment to road safety and environmental issues. The marathon serves as a platform for fostering community involvement in these critical areas.
Dhami Engages with Public
Chief Minister Dhami’s dedication to citizen engagement was further demonstrated at the “Mukhya Sevak Ki Chaupal” event held earlier in the day in Village Aryanagar, Haridwar. This initiative is part of the “Jan-Jan Ki Sarkar, Jan-Jan Ke Dwar” campaign, where he interacted directly with villagers to address their concerns. During the Chaupal, Dhami provided immediate instructions to departmental officers to ensure that public complaints are resolved swiftly and effectively, promising that no grievances will go unheard.
This marathon event and the Chaupal initiative both embody CM Dhami’s vision of bringing governance to the grassroots level, conveying essential messages about road safety and environmental responsibility directly to the community. Road safety is particularly crucial in Uttarakhand due to its challenging mountainous terrain and narrow roads, making the adherence to traffic regulations vital not just for residents but also for the many tourists visiting the area annually.
