The flooding has primarily affected Rasuwa and various regions of central Nepal, which experienced flash floods following an ice-and-rock avalanche triggered by a glacial collapse near the border with China.

Casualties and Impact of the Floods

The floods were initiated by the aforementioned glacial collapse, leading to torrents of water, mud, and debris that devastated infrastructure and communities in central Nepal. Reports indicate that at least 475 individuals have lost their lives, while nearly 1,500 others remain unaccounted for. The disaster has disrupted travel and communication, complicating ongoing rescue efforts.

As the situation deteriorated, several notable figures from the film industry expressed their solidarity with the victims. Prominent personalities such as Farhan Akhtar, Kangana Ranaut, and Bhumi Pednekar took to social media to share their support. Akhtar highlighted the need for awareness about the calamity while providing helpline numbers for those in crisis. Pednekar shared visual content from flood-affected areas, showcasing her grief and offering contact details for emergency services.

Similarly, actress Manisha Koirala expressed her grief and called for prayers for her homeland through social media. Sanjay Dutt offered his thoughts and prayers for all affected by the floods, promising ongoing support to those in need. Concern for Tourists Stranded in Nepal

This natural disaster has not only impacted local residents but also raised alarms for tourists present in Nepal. Bengali actor Kharaj Mukherjee and his wife Pratibha Mukherjee experienced delays in their return from the country due to adverse weather conditions. Their son, Tamaghna Mukherjee, confirmed via a video message that both parents were safe, despite being affected by the ongoing stormy weather that disrupted their travel plans.

According to reports, the couple had traveled to Nepal on August 20 as part of a production team for a Bangladeshi film. Although they had journeyed to Pokhara for their shooting schedule, the floods took place in an area some distance away, enabling them to remain out of immediate danger. Nevertheless, the intense rainfall impacted their filming and logistics, leading to uncertainty in their travel arrangements.
