A woman in Haridwar, Uttarakhand was murdered by her daughter and the daughter’s partner, allegedly due to objections against their relationship. The victim, identified as Kavita, was reportedly killed on August 18, 2026, after her daughter, Unnati, conspired with her lover, Aakash Chauhan, to eliminate her. This tragic incident unfolded when the duo forcibly took Kavita in their vehicle, a Brezza, while en route to another location.

Details of the Crime

According to police accounts, Unnati and Aakash allegedly attacked Kavita by slitting her throat with a knife. Following the brutal act, they discarded her body near the Mangalore canal bridge and attempted to flee the scene. The crime was brought to light when authorities were notified about an unidentified woman’s body found by the old Mangalore canal bridge. Inspector Bhagwan Mehar, who was in charge of the investigation, arrived at the scene with a police team to gather evidence.

The deceased was later identified as Kavita by her husband, Arvind, who confirmed the identity after the body was sent to the Roorkee mortuary for formal identification. As the gravity of the situation became apparent, the Haridwar police established four teams dedicated to solving the case and apprehending those responsible for the murder.

In a bid to gather more evidence, police thoroughly examined footage from approximately 216 CCTV cameras in the vicinity. Their efforts led to the detection of the Brezza vehicle linked to the crime, raising suspicion in the investigation. Police subsequently amplified surveillance along routes connected to the car’s movement.

Arrests Made and Investigation Continues

As the investigation progressed, it became clear that the motive behind the crime stemmed from Kavita’s disapproval of Unnati’s relationship with Aakash. Officers revealed that Unnati felt compelled to plot her mother’s murder, as her relationship with Aakash was reportedly significant to her. The method of the crime was described as particularly violent, with one perpetrator restraining Kavita while the other executed the act.

Law enforcement officials confirmed that both suspects, Unnati and Aakash Chauhan, have been taken into custody. They managed to recover both the Brezza vehicle used in the crime and the knife employed in the attack. This crucial evidence is expected to play a significant role in the ongoing investigation.
