A domestic argument regarding the payment for a crate of mangoes valued at Rs 850 led to a police report in Pune, following accusations made by a woman against her husband, who works as an IT engineer. The event reportedly occurred around 10:30 am on Sunday, May 24, at their residence within a housing complex in Pune.

According to police sources, the woman ordered the mangoes from a vendor stationed outside their society. She subsequently forwarded the QR code payment link to her husband, requesting him to complete the transaction. The husband is believed to have reacted with anger, refusing to pay for the mangoes and initiating an argument with his spouse.

This dispute escalated quickly, leading to a heated confrontation. Reports indicate that the woman began to record the argument on her mobile device, which further aggravated the situation.

Allegations of Assault and Injury

During the course of the confrontation, the husband allegedly seized the mobile phone from the woman’s hand. It is claimed that he then assaulted her, resulting in an injury near her eyebrow. In addition to the physical altercation, the woman accused her husband of verbally abusing her before he left their home.

Concerned for her safety and wellbeing, the woman sought assistance from the police following the incident. Law enforcement officials reported that she was taken for a medical examination and treatment after her complaint was filed.

Police confirmed that an FIR has been lodged against the husband based on the woman’s allegations. The charges include offences under Sections 118(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which pertains to voluntarily causing hurt, and 351(2), related to criminal intimidation. Authorities emphasised the gravity of such domestic disputes.

Ongoing Investigation and Legal Proceedings

Following the registration of the FIR, Pune Police initiated an investigation into the matter. They are conducting inquiries to gather further evidence surrounding the allegations, focusing on the incident as described by both parties.

Legal proceedings will depend on the findings from the investigation, and police are expected to assess all available evidence thoroughly. Officials have acknowledged the importance of addressing domestic violence and ensuring victim support during such incidents.
