The recent murder of Gulafshan, aged 35, has been resolved by Meerut police with the arrest of the accused, identified as Sonu, aged 36. Gulafshan’s lifeless body was discovered in a field on the morning of Saturday, May 4, 2026. Initial examinations indicated the victim had suffered from numerous deep wounds, suggesting a violent assault. Following the discovery of her body, investigators located the weapon purportedly used in the crime in the vicinity.

Details of the Investigation

Reports indicate that Gulafshan was allegedly involved in a blackmail scheme against Sonu. She purportedly threatened to distribute an explicit video featuring Sonu’s wife, which was allegedly recorded by Gulafshan’s husband, Monu. Significantly, Monu was reportedly in a relationship with Sonu’s wife, complicating the situation further. Police revealed that this interconnected series of relationships played a crucial role in the events leading to the murder.

Gulafshan and Monu resided in Mahmoodpur village, which falls under the jurisdiction of Kankerkhera Police Station. The couple had been married for two years prior to this incident. On the day prior to her death, Gulafshan reportedly left her home under the pretext of purchasing books for her children but failed to return. Her body was subsequently found approximately 200 metres away from the location where the murder weapon was discovered.

During the interrogation process, Sonu confessed to the crime, detailing his version of events to the police. He claimed that Gulafshan had been demanding financial support and had threatened to expose the video online if he did not comply. Disturbed by these threats and fearing for his family’s reputation, Sonu allegedly deceived Gulafshan into meeting him in the field. It was here that he allegedly attacked her with a sharp weapon, inflicting multiple blows to her head, neck, and torso.

Evidence Collected From the Scene

Investigators noted that the circumstances surrounding the crime indicated that Gulafshan may have attempted to defend herself during the attack. Evidence suggests that one of her fingers was severed, demonstrating the ferocity of the struggle. Additionally, blood spatter at the scene extended over a considerable area, further indicating that a violent confrontation had taken place.

Following a formal complaint lodged by Gulafshan’s father, Shahid, local police initiated a case and launched a comprehensive investigation that ultimately led to Sonu’s arrest. The authorities are currently in the process of advancing legal proceedings concerning this case.
