Another ‘Blue Drum Murder’? Decomposed body of Man Found with Neck, Legs Tied in Ludhiana

Amid the ongoing cases of spousal murders rising in India another horrifying incident has come to light. This recent case is reminiscent of the infamous Meerut blue drum murder case. In Ludhiana a decomposed body of a man was found stuffed inside a blue plastic drum.

The body was discovered in the Sherpur area on Wednesday morning. The gruesome discovery was made by local rag pickers. They were drawn to the site by a strong foul odour coming from an abandoned drum lying in a vacant plot.

Hands and Legs Tied, Body Wrapped in Sack

Following the discovery the locals immediately alerted the police. The Police rushed to the scene after receiving a tip-off from concerned residents. Upon arrival, officers from Division Number 6, led by Station House Officer (SHO) Inspector Kulwant Kaur, found the body. The body of the man is believed to be around 40 years old.

The police stated that the victim was wrapped in a bedsheet, enclosed in a plastic gunny sack. Furthermore his neck and legs were tightly bound with rope. The way the body was positioned suggests a deliberate attempt to conceal the body and delay identification.

SHO Kaur stated, “The deceased appears to be a migrant based on facial features. There are no visible injury marks due to the deteriorated condition, but the post-mortem will determine the exact cause of death.”

Drum Appears Newly Purchased, Pointing to Premeditation

In addition to the mystery, the drum in which the body was found appeared to be brand new. The police suspect it may have been purchased specifically for the purpose of disposing of the body, pointing to the possibility of a premeditated murder.

In order to investigate the matter further, they have compiled a list of 42 drum manufacturing units in Ludhiana. The police are currently questioning suppliers to trace the source of the drum. “There is strong suspicion that the drum was freshly bought before the killing,” said a police official. “Many drum companies are being questioned,” SHO Kaur said.

CCTV Footage and Missing Person Reports Being Examined

According to reports, due to the rising crime rate the law enforcement officials have launched a full-scale investigation. They are scanning CCTV footage from within a 5-kilometre radius of the crime scene.

This includes city cameras, bus terminals, and railway stations. Several suspicious vehicle numbers are also under scrutiny.
