A 25-year-old individual entered a police station in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, to file a report declaring his wife missing. However, inconsistencies in his statements raised suspicions among officers. Following further questioning, he reportedly admitted to killing her and disposing of her body, motivated by suspicions of an affair involving a close relative.

The incident took place in the Chinhat police station jurisdiction, where the man, identified as Altaf alias Kallu, allegedly strangled his 24-year-old wife, Yasmeen. Police reports indicate that the couple had been frequently involved in disputes, and an argument escalated late at night, leading to the alleged murder.

Law Enforcement Response

After the alleged crime, Altaf attempted to report Yasmeen as missing at the police station. His behaviour during the report raised red flags for officers. Concerned by the inconsistencies in his account, police initiated a thorough investigation.

This scrutiny led to a confession from Altaf that he had strangled his wife and had concealed her body in a sack. He then transported it in a battery-operated e-rickshaw from Barabanki to a location in Lucknow, where he ultimately disposed of it near the Indira Dam, situated in the BBD police station area.

Upon recovering the body, authorities confirmed that it was indeed Yasmeen’s. The body has been forwarded for a post-mortem examination to establish the exact cause of death and provide further evidence for the ongoing investigation.

Altaf, also known as Kallu, has been arrested by police, who are now delving deeper into the circumstances surrounding the alleged murder.
