Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has announced that every Friday will now be observed as ‘No Meetings Day’ throughout the state. The initiative aims to encourage ministers, MLAs, and government officials to engage directly with the public, addressing grievances and improving service delivery. This new approach was unveiled during the launch of the Jan Vishwas Abhiyan in Chhindwara on August 7, 2023.

Speaking to the media, CM Yadav highlighted that the initiative is founded on four key principles: dialogue, resolution, sensitivity, and simplicity. By bringing administrative operations to the field, the government seeks to remove bureaucratic barriers and enhance responsiveness to the public’s needs. The Chief Minister emphasised that officials will not be attending meetings or completing office tasks, but will instead be accessible in their communities.

Yadav stated that public representatives, along with collectors and commissioners, will be present in their respective jurisdictions every Friday to oversee the execution of government schemes and listen to the concerns of citizens. This initiative marks a significant shift towards a more transparent and service-oriented governance model.

Details of the Jan Vishwas Abhiyan

The Jan Vishwas Abhiyan, which translates to ‘People’s Trust Campaign’, aims to serve as a cultural transformation in governance. CM Yadav asserted that this initiative represents a commitment to public welfare and is being implemented for the first time at a national level. By prioritising direct engagement with the populace, the government intends to strengthen its relationship with citizens.

Chhindwara was chosen as the launch site due to its strategic significance as a tribal district near the Maharashtra border and its development potential. CM Yadav detailed that promotions had been awarded to 1,281 officers across 28 departments in Chhindwara alone, and additional recruitment efforts are underway in various sectors, including the police, to enhance administrative effectiveness.

Moreover, the Chief Minister expressed his pride in this initiative, stating that it not only serves as a policy change but also as a pledge to prioritise the welfare of the people. He reassured the 8.5 crore residents of Madhya Pradesh that the government is dedicated to advancing this campaign for their benefit.

Engagement With Various Stakeholders

During his time in Chhindwara, CM Yadav engaged in multiple discussions with various stakeholders. He met with industrialists to gain insights into the challenges faced by existing businesses and to evaluate opportunities for developing new industrial zones equipped with better infrastructure.

In addition to industrial discussions, the Chief Minister interacted with farmers practising natural farming techniques, local entrepreneurs, and homestay operators from tribal and rural regions. He aimed to identify how these groups could take advantage of government schemes and services designed to improve their livelihoods.

Furthermore, CM Yadav engaged with livestock and fisheries practitioners, women involved in initiatives like ‘Drone Didi’, as well as sportspersons and high-achieving students. These consultations were intended to explore ways in which the government could better support diverse community needs and aspirations, thereby realising the objectives of the Jan Vishwas Abhiyan more effectively.
