Jewellery Worth Rs 2 Crore Missing from Kowdiar Palace : Travancore Princess Reports Theft

Kowdiar Palace Theft: A significant theft has occurred at Kowdiar Palace, the residence of the Travancore royal family, located in Thiruvananthapuram. The incident involves jewellery worth over Rs 2 crore which was reported missing by senior family member Aswathi Thirunal Gowri Lakshmi Bai. Following her complaint, the Peroorkada police have initiated an investigation into the matter, formally registering a case of theft.

Details of the Stolen Items

The stolen ornaments were purportedly stored in an iron cupboard situated in the bedroom of the complainant. The theft is believed to have taken place between October and November 2025.

Initially, the family suspected that the jewellery had simply been misplaced, only later to realize the items were stolen. Included among the stolen pieces are gold chains adorned with orange coral beads and gold pearls, unique anklets featuring the traditional ‘pichipoo mottu’ design, and anklets studded with black and gold beads.
