Governor Anandiben Patel visited the Government Children’s Home for Girls and the Government Children’s Home for Infants in Khuldabad on Thursday. During her visit, she assessed the facilities and arrangements available for the children residing there. The governor’s inspection aimed to ensure that the homes are providing adequate support and care to the young residents.
Patel interacted with the girls living at the home, inquiring about the education and healthcare services offered to them. She sought detailed information regarding the healthcare provisions for pregnant and lactating women, highlighting the importance of comprehensive care for all residents. Her engagement was aimed at understanding the needs of the children and ensuring that they receive the necessary support.
Encouraging the girls to strive for success, Patel urged them to maintain a positive attitude while pursuing their goals. She emphasised the importance of determination and self-confidence in overcoming challenges. Furthermore, she provided suggestions aimed at enhancing the facilities and services available at the institutions, demonstrating her commitment to improving the living conditions of the children.
Governor Advocates for Skill Development Initiatives
During her visit, the governor inspected handicraft products created by the girls at the children’s home and women at the Government Women’s Shelter Home. She stressed the significance of connecting these products with market opportunities to promote skill development and create income-generating avenues for the inmates. This initiative aims to empower the residents by providing them with practical skills that can lead to economic independence.
Cabinet minister Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi, vice-chancellor of Prof. Rajendra Singh (Rajju Bhaiya) University Akhilesh Singh, district magistrate Manish Kumar Verma, district probation officer Sarvjeet Singh, and other officials accompanied the governor during her visit. Their presence underscored the collaborative effort required to enhance the conditions and opportunities available for the children in care.
Patel also announced a proposal for Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University (UPRTOU) to introduce three-month job-oriented courses. These courses are intended to be based on local employment opportunities, equipping youths with the skills necessary to become job-ready and self-reliant. She urged university officials to identify relevant job sectors and develop training programmes that align with these opportunities.
Governor Calls for Innovative Measures in Education
During a review meeting following her visit to the university, Patel expressed concern regarding the low student enrolment rates. She called for innovative strategies to attract students to employment-oriented courses, suggesting that wider publicity through banners and pamphlets in prominent public areas could be beneficial. The governor’s focus on increasing enrolment highlights the need for educational institutions to adapt to the changing demands of the job market.
Patel inspected the regional centre at Triveni Community Centre on the Yamuna campus and engaged with students to understand their experiences. She emphasised the importance of practical skills and urged the university to utilise its distance education system effectively. The governor also proposed the introduction of counselling classes on holidays to support working students, ensuring they have access to educational resources despite their commitments.
The governor’s visit to Khuldabad and UPRTOU reflects her commitment to enhancing educational and social support systems for children and youths in Uttar Pradesh. By advocating for skill development and improved facilities, she aims to create a more supportive environment for the state’s future generations.
