Jaipur Woman Killed For Rs 10 Crore Property, Government Job; Daughter Accused Of Plotting Murder

The CSR Journal Magazine

What initially appeared to be a fatal road accident in Rajasthan’s Jaipur has turned into a murder investigation, with police alleging that the victim’s daughter masterminded the killing to gain control of family properties and secure a government job on compassionate grounds.

Police claim 24-year-old Ayushi Sharma conspired with relatives and hired men to kill her mother, Neeraj Sharma, after she accepted a compassionate government appointment following her husband’s death. The alleged conspiracy involved two attempts to run Neeraj over before she was killed by a speeding SUV on July 4.

Compassionate Government Job Allegedly Triggered Dispute

Neeraj had been living in Airport Colony with Ayushi and her 16-year-old mentally challenged son. The family had moved into the house around two-and-a-half years earlier after Neeraj’s husband, Vijay Vashisth alias Vijay Sharma, an LDC in a Jaipur court, constructed the property.

Vijay died a year ago, leaving behind his wife and two children. His death made the family eligible for a compassionate appointment in government service.

Ayushi, who had recently passed Class 12 at the time, reportedly wanted to take the government job. Neeraj was initially willing to allow her daughter to accept the appointment, according to officials.

However, Neeraj’s brother, who worked as an LDC in the lower court alongside Vijay, advised her to take the job herself. He reportedly argued that Neeraj was educated enough for the position and needed financial security to care for her mentally disabled teenage son throughout his life.

He also assured Neeraj that Ayushi could continue her education and pursue a career later. Neeraj eventually accepted the compassionate appointment, a decision police allege led to a deterioration in her relationship with her daughter.

Police Say Daughter Offered Property To Cousin For Murder

Ayushi subsequently moved to the family’s old residence in Kalyan Colony and enrolled in an LLB course with her cousin Balram, the son of her paternal uncle Mohan Swaroop Sharma.

Police allege that Ayushi told Balram during this period that she wanted her mother killed and offered him a share of the family’s properties in return for helping carry out the plan.

According to officials, Ayushi promised Balram five bighas of land on Agra Road worth around Rs 5 crore and another four bighas in Bharatpur valued at nearly Rs 5 crore.

Police claim Ayushi expected to inherit the family’s properties in Jaipur and become eligible for the compassionate government appointment after her mother’s death.

Investigators said the alleged conspiracy was subsequently shared with Mohan Sharma, Ayushi’s paternal uncle and Balram’s father.

First Attempt To Run Neeraj Over Failed

According to police, the conspirators initially planned to kill Neeraj by running her over with a vehicle and make her death appear to be a road accident.

About a month before the murder, Mohan Sharma allegedly contacted Hemant Sharma in Bharatpur to carry out the plan.

Police claim Hemant attempted to run Neeraj over with a Thar SUV outside her residence, but she escaped unharmed.

The incident reportedly made Neeraj suspicious, prompting her to inform her brother and restrict her movements outside the house.

Officials said Ayushi then allegedly resorted to attempts to frighten her mother into leaving the residence. Lemons, chillies and red-coloured substances were allegedly thrown around the house as part of superstition-related intimidation.

Fearing for her safety, Neeraj installed mesh screens around the house and four CCTV cameras outside her residence, police said.

Accused Allegedly Hired Men For Second Murder Attempt

Police allege that Ayushi continued pressing for another attempt to kill her mother, after which Mohan Sharma again contacted Hemant.

Hemant allegedly demanded Rs 7 lakh to execute the murder plan and rented a Haryana-registered Scorpio SUV from Bharatpur for Rs 35,000.

Investigators claim Hemant hired Akash Sharma and Arvind Sharma to carry out the attack, while Rohit and Mohit were tasked with monitoring Neeraj’s movements.

The group allegedly planned to use the rented SUV to run Neeraj over and again make her death appear to be an accident.

Woman Called Home Before Being Hit By SUV

On July 4, Neeraj had taken her mentally challenged son for a physiotherapy session when Ayushi allegedly called her and asked her to return home urgently on the pretext of important work.

According to police, Neeraj was walking along the edge of a 60-foot-wide road while returning home when Rohit and Mohit, who were allegedly waiting on motorcycles, signalled to Akash Sharma, who was inside the Scorpio.

Investigators allege that the SUV accelerated to more than 100 kmph and deliberately rammed into Neeraj.

The impact allegedly threw her nearly 100 metres, killing her on the spot.

Police said Ayushi later called her maternal uncle in tears and told him that Neeraj had died in a road accident.

Mohan Sharma allegedly reached the spot soon afterwards and took Neeraj’s body to the family’s native village in Rupwas.

CCTV Footage Exposes Alleged Murder Conspiracy

Despite the initial road accident narrative, Neeraj’s brother became suspicious after observing Ayushi’s behaviour. Instead of directly alleging murder, he asked police to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.

CCTV footage from the area became a key breakthrough in the investigation.

According to police, the footage showed Neeraj walking along the extreme edge of an almost empty road, raising questions about how a speeding vehicle could have accidentally struck her.

Footage from other cameras in the area allegedly showed a Scorpio waiting at a distance before the collision, while two men were positioned separately along Neeraj’s route.

Investigators also found that the two men walked away after the collision without approaching the victim and later left the area on a motorcycle.

Police subsequently traced the damaged Scorpio. Its owner allegedly told investigators that the vehicle had been rented to Hemant Sharma.

During questioning, Hemant allegedly named Mohan Sharma as being involved in the conspiracy, while Balram absconded.

Police Claim Daughter Confessed During Questioning

Police teams later reached Rupwas village, where Ayushi was staying. Officials said the law student initially attempted to intimidate the officers.

With assistance from local police personnel and villagers, investigators persuaded Ayushi and her aunt to accompany them to the police station on the pretext of recording their statements.

Ayushi’s aunt was later allowed to leave, while Ayushi was taken to Jaipur for further questioning.

Police claim Ayushi confessed to her role in the murder conspiracy during interrogation after she was confronted with the other accused.

Officials alleged that Ayushi showed no remorse during questioning and continued to give evasive responses to investigators.

When approached by India Today TV, Ayushi declined to comment on the allegations against her.
