A Swiggy rider in Jaipur named Aftab Khan was shocked to see a delivery instruction that clearly stated not to appoint a Muslim delivery person, the note read “Don’t send a Muslim delivery boy.”

Khan who is a budding rapper with stage name ‘Rocking Aftab’, such an instruction was both unexpected and harsh. He noted that seeing the instruction, he could not cancel nor pass on the order to anyone else, “As a human, I was very sad to see this, but I wanted to know the person behind this. I wanted to know his opinion.”

A Message of love and harmony

Khan shared that while he was carrying the order and climbing the staircase he had multiple thoughts and literally his hands trembled in fear, but when the person opened the door, he smiled and instantly the fear vanished, said Khan.

While handing over the order, Khan inquired what was the reason behind such a specific instruction, to which the customer said in embarrassment that it was an old instruction and he did not know how to remove it, that it was some other phase of his life.

Khan said he immediately took the customer’s phone and helped him remove the instruction. And when Khan left the customers’ place, the duo shook hands. “Everyone makes mistakes. He apologised to me, and that relieved my heart. Our aim is to spread love in the country.”

A Vendor’s Son who selected talent over convention

Khan is born and brought up in a financially constrained household. His father is a vendor and due to the circumstances at home, Khan dropped his education in the middle. He was raised in a conservative neighborhood, where music is considered a distraction and not the goal of life.

However, Khan never gave up his dreams, he continued to pursue music. And in 2015, there was a sudden boom in rapping culture in India, and since then Khan started writing his own lyrics and in 2024, he participated in a talent hunt organized by Swiggy named Swiggy Vuggy.

He performed in the competition with a track he wrote titled Swiggy’s Partner.

Khan says that he comes from a society where seeing is more expensive than fulfilling it, “Many follow the usual secure profession, but I truly believe that it is only one’s talent that will help to come out of adverse situations.”
