Iranian Missile Strikes Hit Haifa, Ashdod Refineries; Minimal Damage, No Injuries Reported

The CSR Journal Magazine

An Iranian missile strike impacted oil refineries in the northern Israeli city of Haifa, according to the Energy Ministry. The attack occurred on Thursday, but officials confirmed that there was no significant damage as a result. Energy Minister Eli Cohen stated that there was a temporary disruption of power, which has since been restored to most affected areas. Cohen emphasized that the damage to the northern power grid was manageable and localized.

Details of the Attack and Targets Identified

The Iranian military, specifically the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, claimed responsibility for the missile strikes, saying they targeted refineries in Haifa and Ashdod, a city in southern Israel. They stated that their missiles accurately struck various security and military targets associated with Israel. There has been no immediate confirmation about whether the Ashdod refinery sustained damage during the attack.

Electricity Supply and Historical Context

The Israel Electric Corporation explained that shrapnel from the missile strike had damaged a power line in the Haifa region, leading to a brief outage. Power was successfully restored to all customers within approximately 45 minutes. This follows a previous incident last June when an Iranian missile strike on the same oil refineries in Haifa resulted in three fatalities and disrupted operations.
