Vivo has announced that its annual developer conference will take place on September 16, showcasing the new OriginOS 7, which is built on Android 17. Moreover, Vivo has worked on optimising power consumption. Their revamped computing setup is said to reduce power draw by approximately 20 per cent when executing demanding animations. It could significantly extend battery life. These improvements highlight Vivo’s commitment to delivering a faster and more energy-efficient operating system.

A particularly noteworthy feature is ‘Storage Compression 2.0.’ Vivo has transitioned from a single-lane memory handling system to a multi-lane parallel processing model. This change is claimed to allow users to reclaim up to 20GB of memory on devices with 256GB of storage. It effectively offers additional space for files and applications without additional cost to users.

New Hardware Previews Software Features

Vivo recently launched the T5 smartphone in India, providing further context for the capabilities of OriginOS 7. This device features a robust 7,050mAh battery and boasts an IP68/IP69 rating for water resistance. The T5 also includes a horizontal camera island and a 144Hz curved display that elevates its visual appeal.
