Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has made a bold declaration, challenging former chief minister and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) regarding the upcoming Assembly elections. Addressing a public meeting, Reddy insisted that the Congress party is poised to win 100 seats, which he considered essential for retaining power in the state.

While speaking to party workers and supporters, Reddy emphasised the unwavering commitment of Congress to the electoral process. He asserted that there would be no retreat in their political battle, urging attendees to remember his words as a pivotal moment in Telangana’s political landscape.

Reddy’s speech included a stark warning to KCR, stating that Congress workers would take decisive action if challenged. His choice of words underscored his determination and indicated a readiness for an intense electoral competition.

Congress Party’s Ambitious Electoral Goals

Detailing his confidence in an impressive performance by his party, Revanth Reddy projected that Congress could secure between 90 to 117 seats in the elections. He attributed this optimistic forecast to a thorough assessment of Telangana’s electoral history, claiming that previous trends show a pattern of alternating party governance.

Reddy cited the historical context of political power in Telangana, noting that the Telugu Desam Party held power two times from 1994 to 2004, followed by two consecutive terms of Congress from 2004 to 2014, and the BRS from 2014 to 2023. His analysis led him to posit that Congress could be on the verge of a revival in the state, suggesting that a period of Congress rule would extend from 2024 to 2034.

His ambitious claim of “Indiramma rule” covering two separate tenures indicates a vision of extensive public welfare initiatives under Congress governance. Reddy elaborated on the party’s dedication to implement beneficial policies for the citizens of Telangana, further emphasising the importance of the upcoming elections.

Reddy Calls On KCR To Prepare For Electoral Contest

In a direct appeal to KCR, Reddy urged the former chief minister to prepare for the electoral contest and to return to the Legislative Assembly. He insisted that KCR should be ready for the challenge that lies ahead, enhancing the competitive atmosphere of the political landscape as the elections draw closer.

Additionally, Reddy included an ultimatum, suggesting that if KCR is unwilling to contest, he should consider resigning gracefully and settling the matter. This public challenge was intended to energise party members and galvanise support among the electorate, reinforcing Congress’s image as a determined contender for state governance.

Reddy’s articulation of Congress’s goals and his projected success in the Assembly elections position the party as a formidable force nearly five years ahead of the polls.
