Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced a temporary pause in military strikes on Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, for three days beginning at midnight on September 5. This decision coincides with the arrival of US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, son-in-law of former US President Donald Trump, in Moscow for discussions aimed at furthering peace negotiations in the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. The announcement was made by Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov, who stated that the suspension was related to consultations taking place with the US delegation.

Peskov confirmed to TASS that the move is linked to discussions expected to be held in Kyiv with the American team, underlining a potential reciprocal arrangement regarding ceasefire efforts from both sides. Reports suggest that the Ukrainian army was prepared to observe a ceasefire from midnight on September 5 through September 8, seeking similar cooperation from Moscow.

American Diplomacy Efforts

During a press briefing, Putin expressed his openness to working with Witkoff and Kushner, describing them as always welcome in Russia.
