Iran’s Supreme Leader Khamenei Warns Gulf Nations Will Not Host US Military Bases

The CSR Journal Magazine

Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has asserted that Gulf nations will no longer act as protective barriers for US military bases. In a message released on his Telegram channel, Khamenei emphasised that the power dynamics in the West Asia region are shifting, positioning Iran and its allies in a stronger role against the United States and Israel. He indicated that the influence of the US is decreasing and described Israel as a regime that must be eliminated.

Khamenei’s remarks followed recent military actions by US forces in southern Iran, which he claimed were violations of an existing ceasefire agreement. He firmly stated that the “hands of time will not turn back” and highlighted that the region would no longer accommodate the US military presence.

In his statement, Khamenei accused the US of escalating its aggressive activities, warning that the nation is becoming increasingly isolated. He insisted that there should be no safe havens for American operations within the region.

Praises for the Resistance Front and Criticism of Israel

The Iranian leader commended the resistance movements operating in various countries across the Middle East, which are allied against both American and Israeli forces. Khamenei noted that these groups extend from Iran through Lebanon, Palestine, Iraq, Syria, Africa, Yemen, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. He asserted that these militant factions have successfully weakened US influence and challenged Israeli operations.

Khamenei referred to Israel as a “cancerous tumour” and claimed it is approaching its inevitable conclusion. This rhetoric echoes sentiments previously expressed by late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who predicted Israel would not survive for another quarter of a century.

Khamenei highlighted Iran’s recent successes in confronting US and Israeli forces, describing them as significant victories that have rendered Israel impotent and thwarted American ambitions in the region.

Escalating Tensions Following US Military Operations

The Supreme Leader’s statements came shortly after US military operations targeting boats allegedly involved in laying naval mines and missile bases in Hormozgan province. Iranian officials condemned these actions as violations of the ceasefire, further escalating ongoing tensions. Iranian media reported explosions near Bandar Abbas, indicating increased military activity.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry condemned the US for its “aggressive and unjustified actions,” asserting that Washington’s operations in Hormozgan amounted to a gross violation of the ceasefire agreement and warning that Iran would defend itself vigorously.

As hostilities intensify, Iran is pushing for the release of $12 billion in assets reportedly frozen as part of negotiations with the US. Accusations of US malice were levied, with Iranian authorities stating that they would not hesitate to take steps necessary for their defence.

This delicate situation comes amidst ongoing discussions aimed at stabilising relations between the two countries, despite recent developments potentially undermining these efforts. High-level talks took place in Qatar, involving key Iranian officials pursuing resolutions to ongoing disputes.
