Gurugram Police Encounter Reveals Disturbing Case Involving Two Teens

The CSR Journal Magazine

A police encounter in Gurugram on the evening of July 7, 2026, unveiled a troubling incident that involved two 17-year-old boys, Ankit and Aryan, who were reportedly lured into a criminal conspiracy linked to extortion and were tragically killed during the shootout. Neither of the teenagers had any prior criminal records, raising concerns about their exploitation by individuals involved in organised crime.

Background of the Victims

Ankit, who had recently completed Class 8, was known as the only brother among four sisters. His family reported that he informed them he was heading to Haridwar to participate in the Kanwar pilgrimage before leaving home. Aryan, also 17, was a promising javelin throw athlete, studying in Class 12. He left under the pretext of getting his motorcycle repaired, illustrating how easily young individuals can be misled.

Both teenagers were reportedly persuaded by Nitin, a 22-year-old bike mechanic from Bhaloth village in Rohtak, who is allegedly tied to criminal elements. Nitin drove the teens from Rohtak to Gurugram in a Scorpio vehicle, joined by an associate named Sandeep, also known as Deepa. Their journey would lead them deeper into criminal activities orchestrated by an alleged gangster operating from overseas.

Authorities revealed that Nandal, the suspect behind the alleged scheme, has been demanding an extortion payment of Rs 10 crore from prominent businessman Vishal Berry in Gurugram for the last three months. Reports suggest Nandal’s threat included multiple abusive phone calls, estimated at between 15 to 20 in total, further illustrating the serious nature of the situation.

Details of the Shootout

The encounter resulted in heavy gunfire, with eyewitnesses estimating that between 10 and 15 rounds were discharged during the confrontation. The scene was chaotic, with one observer recalling that a bullet narrowly missed striking their mother-in-law’s leg. The witness described a distressing atmosphere, where aggressions were directed at them amid the chaos.

The police indicated that Sandeep, a resident of Fatehabad, had a long criminal history with 14 registered cases against him, including serious charges related to attempted murder and violations of arms regulations. Investigators are now focusing on how these criminals allegedly recruited the teens, speculating on the possible use of social media or local contacts to lure them into such dangerous circumstances.

The recent events have sparked significant concern regarding how organised crime groups reportedly exploit young individuals with no criminal background, effectively using them as pawns in their illegal operations. The unsettling case raises questions about preventive measures that could be implemented to protect vulnerable youth from falling prey to such gang-related activities.
