The Natural Gas and Petroleum Products Distribution Order, 2026 has been issued under the Essential Commodities Act of 1955, and is designed to facilitate a more efficient development of the natural gas infrastructure nationwide.

Immediate Implementation and Investor-Friendly Provisions

Published in the Extraordinary Gazette of India, the order is effective immediately, creating a transparent, comprehensive, and investor-friendly environment for gas distribution. Emphasis has been placed on expediting the expansion of piped natural gas (PNG) networks to enhance last-mile connectivity and promote cleaner fuel options for residential cooking, transportation, and industrial use.
