A total of fifty-eight individuals, including twenty-seven children, were hospitalised due to reported illness after consuming a local snack in Patapur village, located in the Jajpur district of Odisha. According to police reports, the incident occurred on Friday when these people ate ‘Cuttack Dahibara’ from a local vendor. Shortly after consuming the delicacy, they began experiencing symptoms such as vomiting and fever.

They were subsequently admitted to both the Dasarathapur Community Health Centre and the Jajpur District Headquarters Hospital for medical treatment. The local administration is closely monitoring the situation to ensure the well-being of those affected by this incident.

Jajpur District Collector Ambar Kumar Kar commented on the situation, indicating that twenty-one people have since been discharged after receiving treatment. Health and Family Welfare Minister Mukesh Mahaling visited the District Headquarters Hospital in Jajpur and assessed the condition of the hospitalised individuals. He confirmed to reporters that the initial findings suggest the illnesses were linked to the consumption of ‘Dahibara.’

Minister Mahaling also noted that three independent teams have been formed by the state government to investigate the circumstances surrounding this incident.
