Over 1.37 Lakh Farmers Register for Paddy Procurement in UP Amid Strong Support for Yogi Govt’s Policies

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Yogi Adityanath-led government’s paddy procurement policies are receiving robust support from farmers in Uttar Pradesh. As of October 23, more than 1.37 lakh farmers have registered for the 2025-26 paddy procurement season, a clear sign of the trust the farmers have in the government’s initiatives. Registration for the procurement process began on September 1, and it has been progressing smoothly.

Paddy Procurement Underway at MSP

The Yogi government has set an ambitious target to procure 60 lakh metric tonnes of paddy in the current season. Already, in just 23 days, over 35.63 thousand metric tonnes have been procured, demonstrating the government’s commitment to supporting farmers. Procurement is being carried out at the Minimum Support Price (MSP), with Rs 2369 per quintal for common paddy and Rs 2389 per quintal for Grade-A paddy.

High Efficiency with Procurement Centres

As part of its farmer welfare measures, the Yogi government has set a target to open 4,000 procurement centres across Uttar Pradesh, with 3,790 already operational. This initiative has significantly eased the procurement process. Farmers are now able to register online via the UP KISAN MITRA mobile app and the official website (www.fcs.up.gov.in).

After registration, payments are directly credited to farmers’ Aadhaar-linked bank accounts within 48 hours, ensuring quick and transparent transactions.

Western UP Leads Procurement Efforts

The procurement process began on October 1 for farmers in western Uttar Pradesh, including districts such as Meerut, Saharanpur, Moradabad, Bareilly, Agra, and Aligarh. Eastern Uttar Pradesh will commence its paddy procurement from November 1, covering several key divisions, including Chitrakoot, Kanpur, Ayodhya, Gorakhpur, and others. Procurement in the Lucknow division will also begin from November 1.

The Uttar Pradesh government has implemented a seamless registration process through an OTP-based system for ease and accessibility. By ensuring procurement centres are open from 9 AM to 5 PM and accepting paddy with moisture content up to 17%, the government has further streamlined the process for farmers. Additionally, the government’s commitment to providing immediate payments further ensures a smooth, farmer-friendly environment.

Record-Breaking Procurement Season

With a target of procuring 60 lakh metric tonnes of paddy, the government’s measures are set to ensure a successful harvest season. The operational efficiency of procurement centres, coupled with a commitment to farmer welfare, has strengthened the bond between farmers and the Yogi government.

The efforts aim not only to provide economic relief to farmers but also to ensure that they receive fair and timely compensation for their hard work.
