Discount Opportunity on MacBook Air M5 Before Price Hikes Begin

The CSR Journal Magazine

Apple has recently implemented price hikes across its range of MacBooks and iPads in India, significantly raising the cost of various models. The updated prices have been reflected on the official Apple India website, though numerous retailers have yet to revise their listings. This lapse presents a brief opportunity for consumers interested in purchasing the latest MacBook Air M5.

According to observations by India Today Tech, the 13-inch MacBook Air M5, equipped with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, is still available on Flipkart for Rs 1,10,300. Initially, Apple priced this model at Rs 1,19,900, resulting in a discount of Rs 9,600 at the current listing.

However, in light of Apple’s recent price adjustment, the same MacBook Air M5 is now listed at Rs 1,49,900 on Apple’s website. This indicates a substantial discount of Rs 39,300 compared to the new price at Apple. Additionally, buyers who utilise an HDFC Bank credit card can secure an immediate discount of Rs 4,500, further reducing the effective cost of the laptop.

Upcoming Changes and Limited Availability

Consumers considering the purchase of this laptop are advised to act swiftly. Apple has already made its revised prices public, and retailers are in the process of updating their listings. Vijay Sales has already adjusted its prices, while India Today Tech noted that the MacBook Air M5 was not listed on Amazon and Reliance Digital, suggesting these platforms may soon reflect the updated prices.

This scenario raises uncertainty regarding the longevity of Flipkart’s current pricing, which may change as retailers align with Apple’s revised rates. Shoppers are encouraged to explore offline retail outlets as well, where some stores may still have units bought prior to the price increase.

If the newer MacBook Air M5 prices become less favourable, consumers might consider older-generation MacBook Air models. While Apple typically ceases official sales of older versions post-launch, many third-party retailers may still offer available stock. These previous-generation models are unaffected by the recent price increase, potentially offering better value until their inventory is exhausted.

Details on Specific Price Increases

The 13-inch MacBook Air with the M5 chip has seen its price rise by Rs 30,000, moving from Rs 1,19,900 to Rs 1,49,900. Additionally, the 15-inch MacBook Air now begins at Rs 1,79,900, up from Rs 1,44,900, representing a price hike of Rs 35,000.

Moreover, the price of the 14-inch MacBook Pro equipped with the M5 chip and 16GB of RAM has climbed from Rs 1,69,900 to Rs 2,39,900, marking an increase of Rs 70,000. Similarly, the price for the MacBook Neo has risen to Rs 79,900 from Rs 69,900, while the MacBook Pro 14-inch with the M5 Max chip has seen a steep price increase of Rs 1 lakh.

In a statement to India Today Tech, Apple attributed these changes to an unprecedented rise in component costs. The company indicated it had previously shielded consumers from price increases but had ultimately reached a point necessitating adjustments across multiple products, including the latest revisions for iPads and Macs.

As retailers continue to modify their inventories and pricing structures, those aiming to acquire the MacBook Air M5 at the previous price are advised to act quickly, as stock may soon deplete or be repriced altogether.
