Diljit Dosanjh will continue shooting for Border 2 after FWICE lifted its ban following producer Bhushan Kumar’s appeal. The ban was earlier imposed due to Diljit’s collaboration with Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in Sardaar Ji 3.
Will Continue Shoot for Border 2
Amidst the ongoing controversy in Sardaar Ji 3 over the casting of Pakistani actor Hania Aamir, it has been confirmed that Diljit Dosanjh will not be removed from Border 2. A ban that was imposed by the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) on the actor Diljit for non-cooperation has now been lifted.
During a media briefing, the FWICE President BN Tiwari said that the producer of Border 2, Bhushan Kumar, personally appealed to the federation and requested that Diljit be allowed to shoot for his movie. “Yes, the ban has been revoked for this project,” he confirmed.
When FWICE Wrote a Letter to Bhushan Kumar
Earlier, in a letter written by FWICE to the makers of Border 2, disappointment was expressed over the casting of Diljit Dosanjh. The letter was addressed to the Chairman & MD of T-Series, Bhushan Kumar, producers JP Dutta and Nidhi Dutta of JP Films, and director Anurag Singh. FWICE wrote, “deeply disappointed with the casting of Diljit Dosanjh in Border 2. The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), representing the core workforce of the Indian film and television industry, is deeply disappointed and concerned by the casting of actor-singer Mr. Diljit Dosanjh in your upcoming film Border 2, produced under the banner of JP Films in collaboration with T-Series and directed by Mr. Anurag Singh.”
The letter further called the casting a ‘blatant violation’ of “FWICE’s official directive to boycott Mr. Diljit Dosanjh, which was issued after his unpatriotic act of working with a Pakistani actress, Ms. Hania Aamir, in the film Sardaar Ji 3.”
“By choosing to collaborate with an artist who has so brazenly ignored the ongoing tensions and national sentiment, your production has directly undermined the stand taken by the Indian film industry in solidarity with the nation.”
The FWICE had also written a letter to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Home Minister Amit Shah, requesting the cancellation of permissions granted to the team of Border 2 for filming at the National Defence Academy (NDA).
Currently, the team of Border 2 is shooting in Pune, Maharashtra.
