The Election Commission (EC) has announced that voters in Delhi who have submitted their Special Intensive Revision (SIR) enumeration form online are exempt from needing to complete the same form offline. This statement aims to alleviate any confusion amidst the ongoing SIR exercise in the national capital, which includes Booth Level Officers (BLOs) conducting door-to-door verification and distributing physical forms. The EC emphasised that the introduction of digital submission options aims to simplify the process for voters.

Process for Submitting SIR Forms

Voters in Delhi can complete their SIR form submission via the Voters’ Service Portal. They must log in using the mobile number linked to their Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC) and Aadhaar. An OTP-based electronic signature verification process is necessary for the successful submission of the form. After submitting the form online, the EC has recommended that voters retain a copy of the acknowledgement receipt generated during the process.

During house visits, BLOs may request that voters present the acknowledgement receipt as evidence of their digital submission. This precaution is intended to confirm that the SIR form has been filed properly. Additionally, the EC noted that in certain instances, BLOs may ask voters to append the online acknowledgement to a physical form for administrative purposes or additional clarity.

Nevertheless, the Election Commission has reiterated that it is not obligatory for voters in Delhi to submit the SIR form offline if they have already completed the online procedure. This clarification is part of the Commission’s efforts to streamline the voter roll revision process and ensure that all online submissions are considered valid.

In addition to the activities occurring in Delhi, the roll-revision process is also being undertaken in several other states, including Karnataka, Haryana, and Punjab.
