Delhi University Receives Over 65,000 UG Applications for 2026-27 Admissions

The CSR Journal Magazine

The University of Delhi has reported that approximately 65,343 candidates have registered for undergraduate admissions during the first phase of the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) for the academic year 2026–27. This registration phase commenced on June 26, targeting candidates who participated in the CUET-UG 2026 and are aspiring for admission to various colleges affiliated with the university.

Admissions will be determined based exclusively on CUET-UG scores across 73 undergraduate programmes and more than 100 combinations of Bachelor of Arts programmes offered by 67 colleges. All candidates must adhere to specified eligibility criteria to secure their admission.

To enhance the accuracy of the admissions process, the University of Delhi has implemented an automated data integration system, utilising the Government of India’s API Setu. This system allows for the seamless transfer of essential personal information such as name, date of birth, photograph, and signature into the admission portal.

Registration Fees and Next Steps

Candidates from the general, OBC-NCL, and EWS categories are required to pay a one-time registration fee of Rs 250, while SC, ST, and PwBD applicants pay a reduced amount of Rs 100. Following the conclusion of Phase I, students will proceed to Phase II, where they will select their preferred colleges and course combinations.

During this phase, they will also be required to map CUET subjects to their Class 12 subjects to establish eligibility before the allocation of seats begins. This systematic approach aims to streamline the admissions process while ensuring fairness and transparency.

The data collected during registration will also aid in better matching candidates with their respective choices, thereby improving overall satisfaction with the admissions process.

Extra Curricular Activities Seats Allocation

The University has also announced the allocation of 1,370 seats under the extracurricular activities (ECA) quota, spread across 14 distinct categories. Among these, some of the largest allocations are in theatre with 123 seats, Indian classical dance with 125 seats, and Indian vocal music with 109 seats.

Additional significant allocations include categories such as Indian folk dance (72 seats), Hindi debate (71), English debate (69), sketching and painting (65), and western dance (63). Smaller categories have fewer seats available, including just two for sarod, one for western flute, and five for Indian violin.

Prominent colleges within the University, such as Miranda House, Hindu College, Lady Shri Ram College, Hansraj College, Kirori Mal College, Ramjas College, and Gargi College, are participating in the ECA admissions process. For both ECA and sports quota admissions under CUET-UG 2026, there is a weightage of 25% for the entrance exam scores while 75% is based on certificates, trials, and performances, as outlined in the undergraduate bulletin.
