Delhi LG Inaugurates City’s First State-of Art Sports Complex

Delhi Lieutenant Governor, VK Saxena, inaugurated Delhi’s first Centre of Excellence for sports on Sunday at Dwarka’s Sector-8. The state-of-the-art amenities for multiple disciplines, including weightlifting, wrestling, boxing, and taekwondo. This facility is spread across 23.3 acres of land, according to the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), which developed the facility.

The indoor facilities feature dedicated spaces for weightlifting, table tennis, yoga and aerobics. The outdoor sports contain six synthetic turf courts for lawn tennis, as many courts for badminton and for basketball courts, two courts each for netball and volleyball, and four courts for Pickleball,” said the DDA to national media.

Modern Facilities

The sports complex is also equipped with an open-air gym, a dedicated jogging track, and an Olympic-sized swimming pool. Plans for the expansion of the complex will include a combined football and hockey ground, a synthetic athletic track, a skating rink, a speed track, and a children’s Park.

The DDA further noted that a modern conference hall with high-end internet and audiovisual equipment, with a seating capacity of a hundred people, a modern style cafeteria and restaurant, along with banquet facilities, will also be available soon for the visitors. Alongside, professional coaching in all sports, with a focus on boxing, wrestling, weightlifting and taekwondo, will be provided inside the facility.
