The Delhi High Court has issued a directive for the Delhi Police to ensure an adequate police presence near the home of a woman whose son is implicated in the Uttam Nagar Holi violence case. This order came on September 30 after the court reviewed CCTV footage which reportedly showed a violent attack on the petitioner’s residence by local residents.

The alleged attack involved members of the local community, including relatives of a deceased individual linked to the case. In light of this situation, the mother of the accused approached the court requesting immediate police protection for herself and her family. Justice Girish Kathpalia, upon examining the CCTV evidence, acknowledged the seriousness of the circumstances, stating that the law would progress with respect to the FIR against the petitioner’s son, but added that protection was necessary for the family to prevent further violence.

Justice Kathpalia noted that the residence is located in a narrow lane, which could make police protection more manageable. He remarked, “It is not difficult to protect the same by deploying police officials in the lane itself.” The court ordered the police to maintain continuous surveillance in the area until the situation stabilises.

The High Court also required the Delhi Police to submit a status report within one week detailing the measures taken to ensure safety and security in the vicinity. This report should include documentary evidence demonstrating sufficient police deployment and any additional steps taken to avert future violence.

During the court proceedings, Senior Advocates Warisha Farasat and Abdul Gaffar represented the petitioner. They argued that the attack on her home escalated over the preceding two days, with local residents reportedly hurling stones and bricks, intensifying the need for urgent police intervention.

Inspector Mukesh Kumar from Uttam Nagar Police Station attended the hearing and assured the court that the police would implement necessary measures to prevent further incidents. He committed to ensuring that sufficient police personnel would be deployed in the area to maintain order and safety.
