Delhi CM Approves Major Projects Worth Rs 1,000 Crore Under ‘Mission Yamuna’ for Rejuvenation

The CSR Journal Magazine

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has approved significant projects valued at over Rs 1,000 crore aimed at enhancing the rejuvenation of the Yamuna River. This initiative, labelled ‘Mission Yamuna’, is expected to play a crucial role in improving the ecological balance and cleanliness of the river within the national capital.

The approval was formalised by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), which stated that the allocated funds will facilitate a comprehensive clean-up of the Najafgarh Drain, bolster sewage treatment facilities, and establish advanced water management systems throughout the city.

Inspection of Air Purification Technologies

On the preceding day, Saturday, May 23, 2026, Chief Minister Gupta, alongside Cabinet Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa and MLA Harish Khurana, conducted an on-site inspection of various “Made in India” air purification technologies. The effort was part of the government’s broader anti-pollution campaign.

During this inspection, the team evaluated the STR 101 Filterless Air Purifier system. Currently, 21 units have been installed along Sat Guru Ram Singh Marg. The technology functions through an advanced self-cleaning mechanism that purifies nearly 3 lakh litres of ambient air each hour while effectively controlling pollutants such as smoke, dust, and particulate matter.

Additionally, officials reviewed India’s first zero-emission mobile anti-smog system, the EV-mounted Anti-Smog Gun. This system has been strategically deployed along the high-traffic corridors of Kirti Nagar and Mayapuri. Its primary goal is to mitigate road dust and vehicular emissions, thereby contributing to cleaner air in these regions.

Assessment of Pollution Control Devices

In conjunction with the inspections, the team also evaluated the PAWAN III Pollution Control Device, which has been installed near the Kirti Nagar Fire Station. This device captures and treats toxic pollutants at the source, aiming to significantly reduce local air contamination.

In a statement shared on the platform X, Gupta noted that the PAWAN III system has demonstrated a marked decrease in localized particulate pollution levels, further underscoring the efficacy of the government’s anti-pollution initiatives.

Highlighting the long-term strategy of the administration, Chief Minister Gupta asserted that these measures are a part of an ongoing commitment to enhance air quality and public health in the national capital. The government’s campaign is intended to be sustained throughout the year, reflecting a robust approach to tackling pollution in Delhi.
